APG’s increase 15% investment for the next year
During working hours, Jakarta has a population around 12 million, while 10 million people will be stay in Jakarta at night. It means that around 2 million people is the potensial market who may be interested in purchasing city apartments.
Some people even bought apartments as their second home during weekdays, and their first houses were only occupied during weekends or holidays.
The public transportation problems currently will become to so many workers in the Jakarta area preferred to live near to their workplace than in suburban areas.
Related with this condition, Agung Podomoro Group (APG) as the property giant at Indonesia plans to increase its investment by 15 percent in Jakarta next year, on soaring demand for city accommodation because of public transportation difficulties.
Indra Antono as a Marketing Director of APG’s said that for this year (2008) the company’s target will invest around Rp. 2,3 trillion.
Now APG is embarking on a massive project called Podomoro City in West Jakarta, occupying a 21-hectare block, the project will consist of 15 apartment towers, malls and office areas.
Until 2006, APG has completed 16 apartments, 14 residential areas, and 12 commercial mixed-use (www.thejakartapost.com).
